Farmers have always been a priority for President Prabowo Subianto, as stated by Dedek Prayudi from the Presidential Communication Office (PCO). This strong connection can be linked back to two significant moments in Prabowo’s life. Firstly, during his military service, where he received support from local communities and farmers. Secondly, when he led the Indonesian Farmers Harmony Association (HKTI).
During a grand corn harvest event for the Food Security Program in Jenggalu Village, Seluma Regency, Bengkulu Province, Uki emphasized the importance of the program. He highlighted the need for Indonesia to reduce its dependence on foreign food supplies, especially in light of the global situation. Uki mentioned that if major food-producing countries like India, Brazil, and China were to stop exports, it would impact global food prices, including Indonesia.
The recent corn harvest yielded about 10 tons from 1.5 hectares, showing the success of the government’s support with subsidized fertilizers, pesticides, and machinery. Uki encouraged the village head to expedite administrative processes for farmers to access these subsidies to increase production and motivate farmers further.
Kelik Budianan from the National Food Agency echoed support for President Prabowo’s efforts, collaborating with the State Logistics Agency to purchase farmers’ corn harvests. The integration of farmers and livestock breeders in the supply chain is also in progress, ensuring favorable prices for both crops and livestock.
This initiative was shared with local officials, representatives from various organizations, and the people of Jenggalu, emphasizing the importance of maximizing government provisions for the benefit of farmers and overall food security.
