Deputy Minister for Population and Family Development (Wamendukbangga) Ratu Ayu Isyana Bagoes Oka stresses the importance of parents staying updated on their children’s interests and promoting physical activities to prevent addiction to games and gadgets. Isyana shared these insights during a discussion on The Role of Family Development in Welcoming a Golden Indonesia 2045, organized by the Presidential Communication Office (PCO) in collaboration with Gempita, in Jakarta. She emphasized the need for parents to keep learning and adapting to new online applications as children tend to grasp technology faster. Isyana highlighted how children often seek instant gratification through social media and online gaming, leading to potential addiction. Encouraging outdoor activities and sports as a solution, she echoed Deputy Minister for Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Veronica Tan’s Ruang Bersama Indonesia (RBI) program. RBI aims to provide safe creative spaces for women, children, and communities to engage in traditional games, sports, and foster creativity, steering them away from gadget addiction.
