The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has temporarily suspended the operations of its Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) due to the discovery of substandard food within the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program. Redy Hendra Gunawan, Special Staff to the BGN, stated that the affected SPPG units will remain closed until investigations are complete and MBG food samples are thoroughly tested in the laboratory. BGN is working with independent institutions, local health and education departments to identify the cause of the issue and ensure the well-being of affected students. The agency has expressed sincere apologies to students, parents, schools, and all affected parties, emphasizing their zero-tolerance policy for negligence in food procurement and distribution. They are collaborating with local government authorities to ensure a prompt and effective response on the ground. BGN is implementing corrective measures such as stricter partner screening, enhanced hygiene standards, improvements in the supply chain, and the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to prevent similar incidents in the future. The agency is committed to upholding food safety standards and ensuring the MBG Program benefits without compromising health, with support from all stakeholders.
