Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto emphasized the country’s unwavering dedication to safeguarding national interests, especially the welfare of workers, amidst global economic challenges and strong stances from major powers. During the 27th anniversary of the National Awakening Party (PKB) at the Jakarta Convention Center, Prabowo acknowledged the difficulties of economic negotiations, particularly with the United States, but stressed the importance of remaining steadfast as the head of state.
“The world is facing challenges right now—we are aware of that,” Prabowo stated. “There are conflicts everywhere. However, Indonesia is striving to maintain a balance. We uphold non-alignment, we respect all, and we seek to foster positive relationships.”
He highlighted the tough economic landscape, not just for Indonesia but for many nations, amidst negotiations with the U.S. He underscored the necessity to address the stringent approach from the United States in economic matters.
Prabowo emphasized his commitment to safeguarding Indonesian workers and preventing mass layoffs. He viewed it as his duty to protect the interests and rights of the Indonesian people, ensuring that companies have no grounds to lay off workers.
Acknowledging public scrutiny, Prabowo mentioned that government decisions often face criticism, whether constructive or not. While welcoming feedback and oversight, he expressed concerns about relentless cynicism that undermines the government’s efforts.
Despite the various challenges, Prabowo reassured that his administration’s policies will prioritize national resilience, worker protection, and fair global engagement. These priorities are set without compromising Indonesia’s sovereignty or the well-being of its citizens.
Overall, Prabowo’s commitment to safeguarding national interests and prioritizing the welfare of workers remains steadfast amid the complex global economic landscape and the need for constructive engagement with major powers.
