Advancing Economic Equity with Merah Putih Village Cooperatives

by

President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita vision includes the establishment of Merah Putih Village Cooperatives (Kopdes Merah Putih) to achieve true independence through economic self-reliance and equitable development. These cooperatives aim to empower communities and boost rural economies, as emphasized during the launch of over 80,000 Kopdes Merah Putih cooperatives in Bentangan Village, Central Java. The goal is to enhance the well-being of the people and ensure stronger grassroots participation in the development process. By providing storage facilities, logistics support, and reducing dependency on middlemen, these cooperatives intend to increase value and income for farmers and fishers. Moreover, the creation of new rural jobs through these cooperatives is expected to prevent youth migration to urban centers, thus opening up local economies and creating new opportunities in villages across Indonesia. Through the philosophy of development as freedom, Kopdes Merah Putih embodies inclusivity and economic growth from the bottom up, aligning with the President’s vision of eradicating poverty and achieving true independence.
