7 Peringatan: Transformasi Foto Pribadi Menjadi Kartun Menggunakan AI

Transforming personal photos into cartoons using AI has become a trend lately, especially during Eid 2025, which captures moments of meeting and bonding with family. The photos of togetherness uploaded to AI sites and then transformed into cartoons in the style of Studio Ghibli look adorable to showcase on social media.

However, the Russian cybersecurity company, Kaspersky, warns that uploading personal photos to AI sites to turn them into cartoons still poses potential privacy and security risks. According to Vladislav Tushkanov, the Group Manager at Kaspersky AI Technology Research Center, using conversation assistants like ChatGPT for work and leisure purposes is no different from using other internet-based services.

While most established companies ensure the safety and security of the data they collect and store, it does not mean that the protection is bulletproof. Tushkanov mentioned that technical issues and other activities could lead to user-uploaded data leaking and becoming public or even sold on the dark web. Additionally, accounts used to access services can be hacked if a user’s credentials or devices are compromised.

Based on Kaspersky Digital Footprint intelligence experts, there are numerous uploads on the dark web and hacker forums offering stolen user accounts for AI services. These accounts likely contain personal conversation histories with chatbots. Tushkanov emphasized that photos, especially portraits, are sensitive data providing a lot of information about users that cybercriminals could exploit, such as impersonating them on social media.

However, Tushkanov warned that defrauding schemes require more than just photos. Perpetrators need diverse information from victims, like other personal details or specific documents. Engaging in personal discussions, like financial or health matters, using chatbots could give cybercriminals more opportunities for potential schemes, such as spear phishing.

Tushkanov listed several ways users can protect themselves when using AI-based services:

1. Secure accounts with strong passwords, and if possible, use two-factor authentication.
2. Use comprehensive security measures, including for passwords.
3. Use reputable service providers.
4. Treat chatbots like strangers.
5. Avoid discussing personal matters, especially sharing confidential details.
6. Be cautious of potential phishing websites that gather credentials and distribute malware.

By following these safety tips, users can mitigate the risks associated with using AI-based services and safeguard their privacy and security online.
